Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Vibrant and unforgettable, Rio de Janeiro is a city where beauty lives in every detail — from golden beaches and dramatic mountains to music that spills into the streets and sunsets that stop time.
For us, Rio holds an even deeper meaning. It was the destination of our very first trip together — the place where we truly began to know one another and where we first started to fall in love.
Back in 2022, Rio gifted us with the most unforgettable days of our lives. Now, four years later, we are filled with joy to return and celebrate this city — and the love that began here — with all of you!
Shopping

For classic Brazilian beach style, stop by the Havaianas shop in Copacabana. There you can find a huge range of our famous rubber flip-flops and leave with the best Brazilian souvenir you could possibly find.
The Groom’s Favorite: Known for its chic and sustainable fashion, Osklen is Brandon's absolute favorite shop in Rio. Last time he visited, he practically walked out with a whole new wardrobe.
The Bride's favorite: For something cool and contemporary, swing by HAIGHT in Leblon — a favorite for minimalist, modern swimwear and casual clothes that capture Rio’s effortless style.
Restaurants

For authentic Brazilian food, visit Garota de Ipanema or Boteco Belmonte (Copacabana) and don't forget to try our cheese pastels!
If you’re in the mood for a steakhouse, head to Fogo de Chão in Botafogo. Go hungry (and plan to stay awhile!) — the endless cuts of meat are worth it.
For Asian food, don’t miss Gurumê Leblon. The shrimp popcorn and the salmon ussuzukuri are absolute must-tries!
The best burger in town can be found at Cedilha Bar, a relaxed local favorite. And for pizza, we highly recommend Capricciosa, located near Lagoa.
Now, If you’re one of those people who simply can’t skip breakfast, we have two must-go spots:
Pérgula at Copacabana Palace: The breakfast buffet is considered one of the best in the city! Make sure you order our famous Tapioca, and enjoy the view to one of the most iconic pools in the world.
Arp Bar: If you’d rather start your morning right on the beach, head to arp bar at Arpoador. Their pancakes are a must — you simply can’t miss them.
Last but not least, for a relaxed afternoon stop, head to Plage Café inside Parque Lage. It’s beautifully situated in a historic mansion setting and with easy access to the Botanic Garden of Rio. It’s an ideal spot to slow down, enjoy a coffee, and experience Rio’s natural beauty.
Imporant! Many of Rio’s best restaurants can get busy, especially on weekends. To make things easier, we recommend asking your hotel to handle the reservations.
Experiences

A day at the beach
Spending a day at the beach in Rio — caipirinha in hand, sun on your face, and nonstop people-watching — is the ultimate Carioca experience. Our favorite beach hangouts are Posto 10 in Ipanema (where the cool crowd gathers) and Posto 5 in Copacabana.
Tourist Atractions
Some people say they like to skip the tourist attractions — but in Rio, that’s simply impossible.
Christ the Redeemer is one of the Seven Wonders of the World for a reason, and Sugarloaf Mountain offers hands-down the most breathtaking views in the city.
Take the bondinho (cable car) all the way up, then grab a drink at Clássico Beach Club Urca and watch the sunset from above the city.
Rio from the Water
There’s no better way to experience Rio than from the water. One of our favorite memories of the city is the boat ride along Red Beach we took back in 2022. Meet our captain at Marina da Glória and let the waves, golden sunsets, and stunning city views sweep you off your feet — the perfect way to end a day in Ri0.
Rio's Bohemian Charm
Spend the afternoon wandering Rio’s artsy, bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa. Hop on the historic tram, snap some colorful shots at the Selarón Steps, and soak in the city views at Parque das Ruínas.
From there, take your time strolling around Largo do Guimarães or go to Santa Teresa’s crown jewel: Aprazivel,
Set on a hillside terrace amid the treetops, this restaurant serves refined Brazilian cuisine and is a perfect spot to relax, sip a caipirinha, and enjoy the neighborhood’s charm as the afternoon turns into evening.
Practical information for our guests
To help you plan your trip, here’s some practical information to make your stay as smooth and enjoyable as possible!
Tourist Visa
U.S. citizens need a visa for entering in Brazil, but you can easily apply for an electronic e-Visa online for tourism, up to 90 days via the official VFS Global portal. Please access this link to proceed with application:

The Weather
July is winter in Rio, which means warm, sunny days perfect for sightseeing and beach time, and cooler evenings, so bring a light jacket or sweater for night events. Daytime temperatures usually range from 22°C–28°C (72°F–82°F), while nights can drop to around 18°C (64°F)
Voltage & Plugs
Brazil uses 127V or 220V, depending on the area, and Type N plugs. Most hotels and modern establishments are compatible with standard adapters, but it’s a good idea to bring a travel adapter just in case.
Getting Around
Rio is a large city, but taxis, Uber, and rideshare apps are widely used, safe, and convenient. Public transport is available, but rideshares are often easier for visitors.
Safety Tips
Rio is an amazing city, but it’s wise to be cautious: Avoid wearing expensive jewelry or watches while walking in public.
Keep your belongings secure and be mindful of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas.
Packing & Dress Code
Ceremony: Elegant cocktail black dress for ladies and black suit or tuxedo for gentlemen.
Party: White, beach-friendly attire — flowy dresses, linen shirts, or casual white outfits. Swimsuits or shorts if you’d like to enjoy the water.
